The fantastic and yet unknown flight display of a Fire-eyed Diucon (Xolmis pyrope) in the coastal woodlands of Chiloe Island, southern Chile.
A soft single-note whistle is followed by a daring inverted flight, spreading wings and tail feathers, to eventually land in the upper branches of a cypress tree. The fire-eyed flycatcher is showing all its powers to impress somebody, and it certainly did to our group while birding Chiloe Island this southern spring.
