We have exciting news to share with you! This year, Far South Expeditions will once again be taking part in Global Birdfair 2025, one of the world’s leading events for bird lovers, wildlife enthusiasts, and nature travelers.
Global Birdfair is the largest international celebration dedicated to birds. Each year, the event brings together hundreds of exhibitors, including wildlife travel companies, conservation organizations, ornithological tourism operators, scientists, naturalist guides, photographers, and birdwatchers from around the globe.
For three full days, the fair hosts a wide variety of talks, presentations, exhibitions, workshops, and panels, all centered around conservation and a shared passion for biodiversity. It’s also a wonderful opportunity to discover new destinations and experiences focused on birdwatching.
Conservation Project: “Safeguarding Ocean Species”
Each year, Global Birdfair selects a conservation cause as the central focus of the event, dedicating funds to support concrete projects around the world. In 2025, the chosen theme will be “SOS for the Oceans”, a call to protect marine species. The initiative aims to raise funds for the conservation of endangered ocean wildlife.
In 2024, Global Birdfair donated $125,000 to BirdLife International to support the construction of the Galala Bird Observatory, located at a key migration site overlooking the Red Sea in Egypt. Hundreds of thousands of raptors and other migratory species pass through this area on their journeys between Africa and Europe. Monitoring this annual migration spectacle is vital for the long-term survival of these birds.
Over Two Decades at Global Birdfair
At Far South Expeditions, Global Birdfair is much more than just an event— it’s part of our story. Since our first participation in 1999, we’ve proudly represented Chile and Patagonia at the fair for over two decades, sharing the region’s incredible biodiversity with a global community passionate about birds and conservation.
What’s New for Global Birdfair 2025?
This year’s edition will take place from July 11–13, 2025 at Rutland Showground, England, and we’re looking forward to reconnecting with friends, colleagues, and travelers from all over the world. You’ll find us at Stand #106/#107 inside the Swallow Marquee, so if you’re in the UK, come say hello! And if you’re not, don’t worry — we’ll be sharing all the highlights on our social media.
We’ll also be launching our brand-new 2025–2026 travel catalog, featuring both classic destinations and exciting new expeditions. These include wildlife-focused tours across Chile and Patagonia — spotting birds, pumas, whales, orcas, and wild cats — as well as photo tours in stunning landscapes throughout the region. It’s also a fantastic opportunity for us to build new collaborations, meet with international partners, and strengthen connections with fellow nature enthusiasts.
This year at Global Birdfair 2025, you’ll be able to meet Claudio Vidal and Enrique Couve, founders of Far South Expeditions, along with Susanne Widmer and David Couve, key members of our team.
We hope to see you in Rutland… or out in the wild with us, somewhere in the far south of the world!
