In the old days of film and slides, travelling around the world taking pictures was no small feat. To start with, film was not the cheapest of things, nor were cameras and lenses, and you had to wait until coming back home to be able to develop it, so what turned out of your carefully spent shots was always an interrogant that ended the moment you had the paper copies in hand and then, many times the results were disappointing, to put it mildly…now, if you wanted to photograph wildlife, you had to add the hassle of lugging around substantial weight in the form of cameras, lenses and other gear, plus film canisters and other things, and there was no way to know if the shots were any good before being back home, let alone repeating or improving on a bad photo, because by now you were far away from the subject.
All of this, though, changed drastically with the advent of digital photography, and since it arrived, the numbers of photographers of all walks of life, including wildlife and landscape photographers, increased dramatically in a few years, much as improvements in the quality of gear, technology and, of course, the results. Digital photography came as a blessing especially for outdoors photo, because now you were for the first time able to actually see your picture immediately after shooting, and were also able to correct and improve on the spot, and given the bounty of a good memory card, you could take hundreds of pictures that translated to film would have cost a small fortune.
We at Far South Expeditions have duly payed attention to this uprising in wildlife and outdoors photography, and as a result we offer a wide array of Photography-focused programmes (no pun intended) catering to the adventurous wildlife and landscape photographer.
Tours centered in particular interests, like bird, mammal or botanical photography, such as Patagonia Photo Expedition, Patagonia Botanical Tour, or landscape, wildlife and culture tours such as Birds & Wines of Chile and Argentina, Easter Island Explorer, or adventure cruises like Grand Antarctica, Atlantic Odissey or South Georgia in Depth, are all aimed to provide you with the best possible chances of getting great photographs of your favourite subjects.
All of our photo-oriented programmes have been designed and are led by expert and experienced photographers who have paid their dues out in the field getting to intimately know the subjects of the trips so you get an upper hand and learn from their experience and advise, while enjoying places, people and comfort as you indulge in your passion for photography!!
