This is a full day wildlife excursion to the picturesque Chiloé, a huge and forested island in southern Chile with old customs, peculiar villages, boats and churches.
On a short ferry ride, we will go across the Chacao Channel, watching a variety of seabirds, including cormorants, shearwaters and petrels. Once on the island, we will be marveled by flocks of Black-necked Swans and many migratory shorebirds, including Red Knot and Hudsonian Gotwits.
Our destination is the fishing village of Puñihuil. Here we will take a boat trip to have close views of a mixed colony of Magellanic and Humboldt penguins, plus some marine waterfowl like Flightless Steamer Duck and Kelp Goose as well as some marine mammals, including the Marine Otter, Peale’s Dolphin and South American Sea Lion.
