The Baguales Range (Sierra Baguales, in Spanish) is a secluded, remote and seldom visited mountain region of Chilean Patagonia, located quite near from Torres del Paine National Park.
This rugged land was originally home of long-gone hunter-gatherers tribes and it is also full of tales of legendary gauchos who explored every corner of this formerly unknown territory. The jagged escarpment have multiple and colorful rock layers, containing rich fossil deposits formed some 60+ millions years ago; but the range itself is quite young, resulting from the uplift of magmatic material, which formed this dramatic range. Sierra Baguales is the habitat of vast herds of Guanaco as well as an interesting cast of Andean birds such as Condor, Rhea and White-throated Caracara among many other specialties. The opportunity to observe the top predator of the Andes, Puma, will be always there. During the southern summer months, from November onwards, there is a myriad of alpine flowers, creating a most interesting subject to study and photograph.
The brand-new Baguales Glamping is an exciting operation which allow us to explore this remote gaucho land. We will be based in comfortable domes, all with en-suite facilities and central heating and will enjoy the exclusivity to have this huge area just for ourselves. With the help of a suitable all-terrain UTV vehicle, we will be able to approach remote corners of this property and walk back, enjoying the biodiversity and the quietness of Sierra Baguales. Additional horseback-riding adventures and fly-fishing trips can be arranged in anticipation and at an extra cost.
