On this birding and nature tour we will visit the productive lowland wetlands and the Pacific coast south of Valparaiso. You will have the chance to discover the wealth of waterfowl and aquatic birds of Chile plus a good sample of the specialties and endemics of its Mediterranean region.
This easy to moderate tour is suitable for cruise passengers with restricted time at the ports of call.
Early in the morning (6.30am) we leave Santiago driving towards the scenic Pacific coast and the productive coastal habitats near the port of San Antonio. Maipo river mouth will be our first destination and we will concentrate in finding the local and recently split Ticking Doradito, together with Spectacled Tyrant and several other interesting marsh birds. The coast is very productive and literally filled with thousands of seabirds and shorebirds.
Here we shall search for the endemic Chilean Seaside Cinclodes and endemic seabirds of the Humboldt Current such as Red-legged and Guanay Cormorants, Peruvian Booby, Grey Gull and the stunning Inca Tern.
During the afternoon we will visit the exceptional El Peral Nature Reserve, where we will concentrate in finding the cryptic-coloured Stripe-backed Bittern, the brood-parasitic Black-headed Duck and the striking Many-colored Rush-Tyrant.

To book this tour, please complete the online registration form and pay a deposit of US$100 per person. Full payment of the tour fee is due 30 days prior to tour departure.
Notice of cancellation can only be accepted in writing from the person who signed the booking form and takes effect on the day such noticed is received by us.
Refunds are made according to the following schedule:
• If cancellation is made 120 days or more before departure date, the deposit less US$ 50 is refundable.
• If cancellation is made between 120 and 60 days before departure, the deposit is not refundable, but any payments covering the balance of the fee will be refunded.
•If cancellation is made fewer than 60 days before departure date, no refund is available.
