Condor watching tours. Nature and photography trip designed to explore the imposing and scenic Andes above Santiago de Chile. The main goal of this day trip is to observe the impressive Andean Condor (Vultur gryphus), world’s largest flying bird, which gracefully soars amongst these inspiring mountain landscapes. Farellones area concentrates Chile’s main ski resort centers and the winding roads (during the southern spring and summer) provide convenient access to fantastic locations for landscape, bird and other wildlife photography.

Condor watching tours. We will explore the scenic road to Farellones and Valle Nevado that winds up the Andean foothills, located a short driving distance from Chile’s capital city, Santiago. The 40-bend road slowly ascends and we will be impressed by the Mediterranean vegetation of the lower part of the road, comprising columnar cacti, tall Puya bromeliads and broad-leaf patches of woodland. Up in the quiet village of Farellones we will concentrate in finding the best spots to watch for soaring Condors, which regularly gather around the cliffs overlooking the impressive canyons.
We will continue exploring the barren scree slopes, looking for a variety of typical Andean birds, including Mountain Caracara, Black-winged Ground-Dove, White-sided Hillstar, Mountain Parakeet, Rufous-banded Miner, Black-billed Shrike-Tyrant, Yellow-rumped Siskin, among many others.

The road to Valle Nevado (the highest spot of our journey at nearly 3,000 m / 9,000 ft) constantly offers stop opportunities for impressive vistas of the Andes. We will also study the meadows to study the several plant species occupying these extreme habitats. From October until February you can experience the phenomenal blooming of several mountain wildflowers including Alstroemerias, Rhodophiala, Schizanthus, just to mention a few.

This trip is an excellent introduction to the Andes, its flora and fauna, and to contemplate it most conspicuous inhabitant, the mighty Andean Condor. Condor watching tours

What the trip includes/excludes

The above prices are per person in US Dollars. All payments are in US Dollars.
The trip price includes: Private transportation with professional driver, naturalist guide services during the tour, park entrance fees, lunch and snacks, and bottled water. VAT of the tour is also included.
The trip price excludes: Tipping (entirely optional), travel insurance, á la carte dishes, alcoholic drinks, and anything else of a purely personal nature.

Tour Registration

To book this tour, please complete the online registration form and pay a deposit of US$ 100 per person. Full payment of the tour fee is due 30 days prior to tour departure.

Cancellation Policy
Notice of cancellation can only be accepted IN WRITING from the person who signed the booking form and takes effect on the day such noticed is received by us.

Refunds are made according to the following schedule:
– If cancellation is made 120 days or more before departure date, the deposit less US$ 50 is refundable.
– If cancellation is made between 120 and 60 days before departure, the deposit is not refundable, but any payments covering the balance of the fee will be refunded.
– If cancellation is made fewer than 60 days before departure date, no refund is available.
This policy and fee schedule also applies to pre-trip and post trip extensions, as well as any transfers from one tour to another. We strongly recommend the purchase of trip cancellation insurance to protect yourself.
