This program explores the Ultima Esperanza region (“Last Hope”), a dramatic Patagonian landscape where vast skies and open steppe create ideal conditions for observing Andean Condors and the rich birdlife of southern wetlands. Near Torres del Paine, you will visit the renowned condor roosting site at Cerro Castillo, a spectacular setting offering exceptional opportunities to photograph condors soaring on thermals, perched on towering cliffs, and resting on the windswept ground below.
The journey continues to Vega del Castillo, a private ranch and outstanding birding location where wetlands and woodland habitats support a diverse range of waterbirds and forest species, including Cinereous Harrier, Magellanic Horned Owl, Spectacled Tyrant, and the striking Many-colored Rush-Tyrant.
Together, these locations offer a memorable birding and photography experience, along with opportunities to observe wildlife such as guanacos, armadillos, foxes, and skunks while immersed in the vast and remarkable landscapes of southern Patagonia.
