David Couve
General Coordinator of Expeditions and Nature Guide
David is a naturalist guide and expedition coordinator with a deep connection to the ecosystems of Chile. Born in Valdivia, his earliest memories include walks in the temperate rainforests of Oncol National Park, experiences that sparked his passion for nature. From a very young age, he explored the diverse ecosystems of Chile, traveling north and to the Altiplano with his family.
Living in Punta Arenas, he visited Torres del Paine National Park many times, where he had his first encounter with a puma at the age of 12, a pivotal moment in his fascination with these felines. Later, he lived in Tierra del Fuego for 5 years, exploring its landscapes, from the Patagonian forests to the glacier-covered mountains, and crossed the Strait of Magellan countless times. This experience allowed him to get to know most of the birds and mammals of Patagonia, deepening his appreciation and understanding of the region’s unique biodiversity.
During the pandemic, his dedication to wildlife observation evolved into expeditions focused on searching for native felines and other species of Chile, as well as marine explorations to spot marine mammals and pelagic birds. Today, David specializes in 8-day or longer expeditions focused on observing native cats such as the Andean Mountain Cat, Colo-colo, Güiña, Geoffrey’s Cat, and the puma, offering explorers an immersive experience in Chile’s natural world.
With extensive experience in logistics and a sensitive approach to local ecosystems, David leads experiences that connect travelers with wildlife, providing unique access to some of the most fascinating environments in Chile.
