David Couve
Expedition Manager – Head Guide at Far South Expeditions
Born in Valdivia, David is our Head guide and the Field Manager of our expeditions. His passion for Chile’s and Patagonia ecosystems began during his childhood, while exploring the temperate rainforests of Oncol National Park—an experience that sparked his deep love for nature. From a young age, he traveled with his family throughout Chile, from the far north to the Altiplano, discovering the country’s diverse landscapes.
He lived in Punta Arenas, where he has explored Torres del Paine and achieved his first puma encounters at the age of 12. He later spent five years in Tierra del Fuego, exploring its forests and glaciers while becoming familiar with most of the region’s birds and mammals. He has also worked on expeditions throughout Chile focused on observing wild cats and marine species.
Currently, he combines his work as a naturalist guide on wild cat expeditions — including species such as the Andean cat, pampas cat, guiña, Geoffroy’s cat, and puma — through mountain, forest, and Altiplano ecosystems, with his role as expedition manager for our company.
