Luz Poulard-Freres
Marine Biologist – Naturalist Guide & Content Editor at Far South Expeditions
Born in Santiago, Luz is a marine biologist and naturalist guide with a strong commitment to conservation and environmental education. From a young age, she explored diverse ecosystems with her mother, developing a deep connection to nature that inspired her to study Marine Biology at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile.
During her academic journey, she focused on marine conservation, marine mammal paleontology, and sustainable tourism. She collaborated with the Natural History Museum of Santiago and actively participated in beach clean-up initiatives, integrating science, community, and environmental action. Luz has also guided expeditions in Peru, working with Humpback Whales.
She currently works as a naturalist guide at Far South Expeditions, where she connects travelers with Patagonian wildlife—from pumas and birds of the Strait to marine mammals—combining her passions for photography, birdwatching, and the sea.
