Michelle Krziwan Mayer
Naturalist Guide
Born in Santiago and raised in Temuco, near the volcanic landscapes of Chile’s Araucanía Region, Michelle Krziwan Meyer grew up surrounded by the nature and cultural heritage that sparked her lifelong curiosity. From a young age, her parents encouraged her to explore Chile—from the Andes to the Pacific coast—nurturing her connection with the outdoors. She studied Ecotourism Management, a path that strengthened her interest in flora, fauna, mountains, conservation, and ethnobotany, and deepened her desire to understand and improve the relationship between people and the natural world.
Driven by a love of learning through experience, Michelle has spent nearly ten years living a nomadic lifestyle, traveling and working as a guide in diverse environments. Her career has taken her from Carlos III Island, Torres del Paine, and the southern fjords of Chile to New Zealand, Canada, and Australia, where she has continued to grow her skills, encounter new wildlife, and engage with different cultures.
Michelle recently joined the Far South Expeditions team as a naturalist and puma-tracking guide. She is known for her sharp eye for wildlife, her ability to spot and interpret species in the field, and her talent for appreciating and sharing the beauty of every moment spent outdoors.
