Nicolas Castro
Wildlife Photographer – Expedition Logistics Coordinator & Naturalist Guide at Far South Expeditions
Based in Puerto Natales, ‘Nico’ is a naturalist guide, nature and wildlife photographer specialist, and explorer. His passion for Patagonian landscapes began in his youth, while exploring Torres del Paine National Park and its diverse wildlife — an experience that marked the beginning of a career dedicated to exploring and visually documenting the natural world.
He studied Adventure Tourism at Inacap Institute and completed an advanced mountain skills training at the College of the Rockies in Canada. He has guided travelers through some of the most remote regions of Chile and abroad, with a strong focus on Torres del Paine, Easter Island, and various Canadian landscapes.
Today, he combines his work as a naturalist guide focused on wildlife observation — particularly pumas and birds—with his role as a wildlife documentary photographer. Living in Puerto Natales allows him to stay closely connected to the Patagonian steppes and Magellanic forests he deeply admires.
