Mendoza province holds a fascinating mosaic of habitats with a fantastic bird diversity. It is located at the heart of the Cuyo region in western Argentina, and is renowned all over the world for the excellent quality of its wines. On this trip we will explore the Monte ecosystem, looking for specialties such as Chaco Eagle, Spot-winged Falconet, and a delightful cast of passerines including Chaco Earthcreeper, Salinas Monjita, Sandy Gallito, Crested Gallito, White-throated Cacholote, Rufous-warbling Finch and the endangered Yellow Cardinal. We will also explore the impressive foothills of the Andes mountains to look for White-collared Swift, the striking Red-tailed Comet, White-winged Black-Tyrant, Steinbach’s Canastero, Patagonian Mockingbird and White-tipped Plantcutter among several other species.
