Tierra del Fuego is a vast and mythic island territory of Patagonia, encompassing the pristine archipelagos that lie south of the historic Straits of Magellan. On this wildlife and photography expedition, we will explore this wild and remote territory aboard the sturdy M/V Estoa, our comfortable 63-ft expedition vessel.
Our expedition is thoughtfully tailored for wildlife photographers and nature enthusiasts across all levels, catering to those who prefer the intimacy of a small group—limited to just 8 participants. Throughout this journey, we will capitalize on the extraordinary landscape and wildlife photography opportunities presented by these remote and pristine regions.
This expedition is punctuated by remarkable wildlife highlights, including the spectacle of feeding pods of Humpback Whales, up to four distinct dolphin species, and impressive pinnipeds such as Southern Fur Seals and South American Sea Lions. We will have great opportunities to visit the breeding colonies of penguins, albatrosses, and cormorants that inhabit these productive waters. During our zodiac landings, we will explore the lush and entangled sub-Antarctic forests of Patagonia and the colossal tidewater glaciers of the mythic Darwin Range, also known as the Cordillera de Darwin.
Each journey is led by our seasoned naturalist guides, dedicated to facilitating wildlife identification, providing expert interpretation of the region’s natural history, and sharing invaluable photographic insights throughout the voyage.
We invite you to join us on this extraordinary expedition of discovery as we trace the historic routes of Magellan, Darwin, and Fitz Roy amidst the mythic landscapes at the “End of the Earth”.
