Dear guests and friends,
Indeed, these are strange and unprecedented times. So many definitions and statements about this pandemic and its resulting social/ economic/ and even environmental effects out there that it’s quite easy to feel overwhelmed and depressed if your horizon lies just on everyday’s news.
We are now entering on our third quarantine week in Punta Arenas, with a total lockdown since April 1st! We have been active indoors, working remotely and hugely missing the field, being out there, immersed in Nature!
One good thing is that me (Claudio) and Enrique have found the time to focus on a new edition of our Photographic Guide to the Birds of Patagonia, which we expect to launch later in the year. This is a title we originally published in 2003, during the pre-digital photography era, and we are really looking forward to handle an updated version of it within a few months.
We are currently working on our updated 2021 & 2022 seasons trip program, which will be launched on May 15, 2020. We hope you can take a look to our offer and accept our invitation to experience the remote corners of Patagonia, Argentina & Chile as well as the vast landscapes of Antarctica.
Our proposal to you is to look ahead. Most of you, including us have experienced the hardships of these recent events. Doing business is really tough for everyone these days and this is a global reality. As we can see it, this is a major test for each one of us as well as a great opportunity to grow as individuals and community. This is a pause along the road from which we can set new priorities and goals and hopefully as a species we can find the way to live more simply, showing respect to Nature and biodiversity.
Paraphrasing Tennyson on his inspiring Ulysses poem, which I have really liked over the years as it’s a true answer on moments of difficulty … To strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield!
Keep safe and warmest regards! And if you can #StayHome
Claudio, Enrique & the Far South Expeditions team!
