Constanza Alarcón-Vera
Marine Biologist – Naturalist Guide & Content Editor at Far South Expeditions
Born in Punta Arenas, Constanza is a marine biologist and naturalist guide. From an early age, she developed a strong connection with nature through experiences in the Strait of Magellan, where she observed Peale’s dolphins, and in the Nahuelbuta mountain range. Her fascination with the ocean led her to study Marine Biology at the University of Concepción, where she actively participated in coastal bird watching and whale observation groups in the Biobío region.
Throughout her career, she has collaborated on scientific projects focused on cetacean acoustics and ecology. Her passion for fieldwork has taken her across the Magallanes region, where she has guided scientific expeditions through fjords and channels, specializing in the observation of cetaceans, forest birds, and marine wildlife.
Currently, she combines her work as a naturalist guide on bird watching expeditions — across forest, steppe, and the Strait of Magellan ecosystems — with creating content for the company’s blog, focused on nature and expedition travel.
